Triple Water Astrology - The Anaretic Degree! Sun in Aries newsletter 2014

This is the beginning of the new astrological year. The Spring Equinox shows the Sun at exactly 0 Aries in the tropical zodiac. This also means that as the daylight is increasing and nighttime shrinks, the day of the Spring Equinox has day and night at roughly equal intervals. (For those interested, the equinox used to denote equal day and night, twice per year; the equinox in Spring now simply refers to Sun at 0 Aries in the Tropical zodiac, not necessarily equal day and night times.)

Of more relevance to most people, of course, is prediction. How will the year in general go? Sun entering Aries is an opportune time to remind querents that the natal promise is very important and must be considered in the context of the transits. The natal promise is exactly what it says, the energies imbued upon a person at the moment of their birth. Ultimately what is in your chart is there to be used; not many people, in fact perhaps nobody, manifests it fully, but that only speaks to the extraordinary energies that are in abundance from our perspectives. I would suggest that somehow, the energies are always available, but the choice is for us to use them productively or not. This also broaches the topic of fate versus free will. Astrology seems to be an arcane, strange mix of both. So while we have no choice regarding our natal promise, at least after we're born, we do have a choice about how to work with the energies available to us. The energy of the Sun in Aries, in exaltation, gives us the sense of a fresh start, new beginnings, abundant personal energy, and the motivation to start working on our difficulties and move forward with our successes. Progressions show current conditions; just as our lives progress, our charts progress, most popularly in the day-for-year format. Transits activate and energize. The natal promise, progressions, and transits used in tandem are a powerful predictive tool. [Source: Celeste Teal]

All of that spoken, in this newsletter I would simply like the give my opinion on the year ahead based only on the transits. Based on so many new requests to receive my newsletter lately, I would like to give a short bio so you can become more familiar with me and what I do. Then I will chat about March 2014-March 2015 based on the Sun in Aries ingress chart.

Also, with the ingress of Sun into Aries, I am offering half price readings! Please call or email to schedule a reading or for more information (www.triplewaterastrology.com).

Bio

I don't remember a time when I wasn't in love with the stars and planets. From looking up at the sky on Christmas Eve as a five-year-old, to learning about astronomy and mythology throughout my school years, inside and outside of the classroom, to finally discovering that I was made to do astrology, I have always had a fascination with how the constant constellations and planets formed my perceptions. Later, I discovered their power to explain and predict human behavior, mundane events, and the meaning of our existence.

The name 'Triple Water Astrology' reflects the nature of my luminaries and ascendant, in each of the water signs. I have Sun in Cancer, Moon in Pisces, and ascendant in Scorpio. The heavy water influence in my chart has always contributed to my interest in the occult. So my interest and passion in astrology, combined with my formal schooling, gives me the ability to convey information about the planets in a querent's chart quickly and in an understandable way.

An enormous amount of free information about astrology from my perspective is available via various sources on the internet. I've learned from and spoken with some of the best astrologers in the business. When I began studying astrology, I was very surprised and delighted at how accessible so many various astrologers are in person at conferences and through communicating on the internet. I will never be done learning about astrology. My inner functioning is conjunct my Jupiter and both are in the sign of Aquarius. I think this prompts me to experiment a lot and learn more about new points and objects that might be used to uncover a greater part of someone's personality or lend additional insight to prediction. My favorite nuance in chart analysis is using the eight hypothetical Transneptunians. I have used the "Great Eight" to augment my analysis of the Kennedy assassination event and in hundreds of other charts.

People generally enjoy learning about themselves, and I am always able to find something about a person that they didn't previously know by studying their chart. An astrologer is never done studying a chart, but I will always enjoy the process of uncovering the secrets of the universe and the intricate, infinite beauty of the zodiacal energies through astrology.

The new astrological year

The chart, at the top of the newsletter, varies depending on the location. The angles and houses will differ according to a person's location on earth at the moment of the ingress. However, the positions of the planets and aspects are exactly the same in any chart at the time of the ingress. So the analysis will focus on the signs of the planets and the aspects.

The ingress chart shows the "birth" of the new year! Hopefully this will provide some insight regarding the year ahead, and that powerful Sun transiting over the various planets and forming aspects to planets in the ingress chart at various times of the year suggest propitious times for various actions to be taken. For example, transiting Sun conjunct Jupiter in the ingress chart from about June 25-July 10 is probably better than average for finding extra money, pursuing a promotion at work, or happy times with family.

First glance

I was initially surprised at the aspect patterns in the ingress chart. In the midst of the cardinal grand cross theme that has been repeating lately, the only harsh patterns are a Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto t-square and Moon square Venus. Note that both include the benefics (Venus and Jupiter), and the latter, Moon-Venus, makes the feminine energies in the chart very pronounced.

This does not suggest an easy year, necessarily. Neptune in his dominion dominates his part of the chart; Saturn and Pluto in mutual reception definitely have an influence - and note Moon conjunct Saturn, a planetary pair manifesting via Pluto's sign; and Mars, Venus, and Uranus form an odd circuit of energy. The outer planets have an enormous influence this year in various ways.

Communication might be problematic this year. Mercury (thought and communication) is conjunct Neptune (illusive, ideal) and both are in Pisces. Being misunderstood and misled seems to be a prominent theme this year, unless a person makes an effort to avoid these issues. Venus (cooperation and collaboration) conflicts with and is in tension with Moon (primary emotional need) in her fall. Collaborative efforts tend to be fraught with difficulties based on conflicting emotions; the bright side is that dealing with people in a logical and thought based manner (Venus in Aquarius) can tend to yield better results. Mercury in Pisces heightens psychic abilities this year, especially in such close proximity to Neptune. A lot of spiritual communication might take place this year. I expect increased advertisements regarding alcohol and prescription drugs. Use of both will probably stay constant and even increase. Of course, I am not against someone enjoying themselves or taking necessary medication. This year, however, be on the defense regarding excesses (Jupiter trine Neptune) and miscommunication or not obtaining enough information, or the proper information, from those who recommend pharmaceuticals. The best defense against this seems to be, "do your homework" (Saturn in Scorpio).

The trials and tribulations of relationships can pay off in the end, with the appropriate effort. North node at 28 Libra emphasizes working towards balancing with others. Forming a basis of dealing with other people in an ego-based manner (this is not necessarily bad or wrong) and being assertive to obtain what you want is natural this year (South node in Aries). I have the feeling that the South node wants to keep us where we're at and North node challenges us to grow, and if your objective is to grow personally, this year using focus and commitment (Vesta) will be a bellwether showing if you're on the right path in that regard. Mars is also close to North node (and therefore opposing South node), and Mars in his detriment and retrograde has to find a way to muster some energy to collaborate with others. Perhaps a softer Mars is of benefit this year. Energy applied to cooperative efforts can be very scattered, but many people with the same goals and in agreement can move mountains. Mars in Libra is consistent with the energies of the North node this year. Finding like-minded people will be of great benefit this year, even if they seem few and far between!

Moon

The Moon in her fall deserves special attention. This year, a lot of emotions will appear to be withheld or not easily expressed. This is by the nature of the Scorpio sign, and additionally emotions might feel repressed by Moon conjunct Saturn. Moon and Saturn form a planetary pair, in my opinion. (Perhaps I will write an article regarding this someday, for now I would suggest one reason is the karmic nature of both.) So this might be a karmic year in many ways. How will you use your emotions to settle past (Moon) karma (Saturn)? The intensity of the Scorpio sign, with the tender, feeling nature of the Moon, is initially not easy to handle. But the lesson of Moon in Scorpio is learning how to deal with the intense, deep emotions that often aren't easily expressed in the fixed sign of Scorpio. Experiencing the Moon in Scorpio can help a person become a more mature, complete, and conscious individual. Saturn acts as an additional restrictor, but also as a teacher. The downside of Saturn is the unpleasant feeling of external control, but ultimately the upside is the opposite: greater freedom, but only when his price is paid.

While the Moon touches both benefics, she also makes a wide sextile to Pluto (transformation) and a trine to Chiron (woundedness). As with anything in astrology, we have a double-edged sword: it could be a year of emotional pain and difficulty, or a year of triumph and catharsis. The Moon in Scorpio gives me a feel that it's more "all or nothing" this year, emphasizing the importance of adapting to various situations, setting intentions, and acting on them. This year mid-to-late November is a good time to rest and reflect. I suggest a lot of personal time to think, meditate, pray, or partake in any solitary activities that you see fit.

Relationships

My comments regarding fresh starts and optimism seem to have been dashed with a lot of my subsequent comments. However, I have to make calls as I see them. With any combination of planets or aspects, the opportunity to use the energies either productively or unproductively exists. So in that sense the tense themes I see in the ingress chart present a lot of opportunities for growth and fulfillment, if the will to meet the challenges is present with a willingness to do the necessary work.

Juno (relatedness) is closely conjunct to Uranus. A great deal of ideas and knowledge can be exchanged with others, especially significant others. However, with Pluto squaring Uranus and Juno, and Jupiter also squaring both, the potential for breakups, divorce, and shocks in relationships is prominent this year. Forewarned is forearmed! Relationships contain a lot of personal will and fire (Aries) this year. But this doesn't mean they can't work. Think North node in Libra again! Also consider the strengths of Venus in Uranus' sign. Generating a lot of ideas and keeping relationships rational by relating through thought and communicating well can avoid a lot of trouble. Time periods to be on high alert for relationship problems will be one week before and one week after:

April 1
July 3
about October 3
about January 3

Juno is making the t-square prominent in the heavens a double t-square this year. Pluto transforms and Jupiter expands...Uranus is a wild card...so just a few simple key words relay the idea that relatedness is more difficult than average this year. But how can you turn the focused, powerful energy on Uranus and Juno to your advantage this year?

Transneptunians

The Great Eight are not very active in this ingress chart. The exception is Poseidon! Poseidon (insight and wisdom) touches both Uranus and Jupiter by aspect. The three suggest 'expanding knowledge and wisdom' this year. Poseidon will be in Scorpio for about 40 more years. So we have a long time to explore the depths of spirituality through Poseidon. As the transiting Sun hits 11 degrees of each sign this year, those days will be powerful for realizing spiritual potential and experiencing some kind of new spiritual perceptions. Poseidon also reinforces the theme of a lot of psychic activity and enhanced spirituality in general this year.

Other thoughts

I could go on for many pages. This year doesn't appear to be overly favorable for accumulating material goods. The earth signs are rather empty in the ingress chart; so this year will feel a bit ungrounded, especially if you have several planets in earth signs. I have the sense that as far as career and earnings it's more of a 'bob and weave' type of year, trying to hold on to what you've got rather than pushing ahead, although it's certainly possible. The prominent Pluto suggests kind of hackneyed advice about 'changing yourself' to adjust to the quickly changing world, especially the business world. Steady endurance (Admetos in Taurus) is perhaps paradoxically required to find a new path or progress on your current path.

This is a year of creating and maintaining relationships, and learning how to work through times when the relationships become tense through misunderstandings, goals that are not congruent, and conflicting emotional needs. A great deal of effort needs to be made to maintain relationships. This is a very important theme this year because it affects most people's personal as well as professional life. Difficulties will often require turning to answers contained within one's self. This makes spiritual practices important this year.

No analysis of any chart can possibly cover all contingencies and predict every future trend, but if this newsletter prompts the reader to plan ahead and react to various situations with the knowledge and power of the planets, and be better off in the process, I will be very gratified.

Happy solar return to friends with Sun in Aries! I will continue my newsletter in my usual format when Sun enters Taurus. Mike
